Description

Purpose:

FinMark FTTHxxx-SM-48 “last mile” optical distribution cable, for use in FTTH networks with 1, 2 or 4 fibers. The self-supporting figure-eight cable is designed for suspension on poles, between buildings and other structures. The flame-retardant plastic sheath also allows the cable to be laid inside buildings, in risers, attics, basements, pipelines, offices and apartments. After cutting the steel carrier cable, a flat, lightweight, small-sized dielectric structure remains, which is easily attached to any surfaces inside buildings. The cable is simple and convenient to process and install, with a minimum of effort and tools.

“Flex” type cables, containing fibers with reduced bending losses, can be laid inside apartment buildings or offices in limited space: along skirting boards, jambs, with sharp turns of the route, when fastening cables using brackets.

Design:

The cable contains one, two or four optical fibers that comply with the G.652.D recommendation (standard single-mode fiber with a suppressed “water peak”). The outer sheath is made of halogen-free low-smoke plastic that does not spread combustion – LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen). Resistance to longitudinal tension of the cable is provided by two power elements made of aramid-plastic (Kevlar) rods (KFRP). For suspension of the cable, a supporting element is built into the sheath – a cable made of galvanized steel wires with a total diameter of 1.2 mm.

The cable can also use fibers that comply with the G.657.A1 recommendation (single-mode fiber with reduced bending losses). In this case, the “Flex” index is used in the marking. The minimum bending radius of such a cable is much smaller than usual – up to 20 … 30 mm.
