Description

Application:

For aerial installation on poles carrying communication lines, urban electric transport lines, and between buildings and other structures. The all-dielectric construction allows the cable to be suspended on poles of electric transport contact networks or power lines with an induced electric field potential at suspension points not exceeding 12 kV. Small dimensions and light weight also allow the cable to be pulled or blown into plastic ducts.

Key features:

  • Light weight and small diameter simplify installation
  • The high-density polyethylene (HDPE) jacket provides good protection against accidental mechanical damage and chemical exposure
  • A sufficiently large fibre slack margin in the cable allows it to withstand critical tensile loads without damage under extreme temperatures, wind loading, or ice formation
  • No induced currents on the strength members when suspended on high-voltage line poles
  • No induced currents on the strength members during lightning discharges
  • The small diameter and round cross-section reduce wind loading (sail effect)
  • Fibreglass-reinforced rods are embedded in the jacket, so that under additional tension, the clamping force is transferred to the strength members, causing less deformation of the optical module
  • The simple construction makes cable preparation easier

Construction:

A cable with a central optical module that can hold up to 12 optical fibres. The jacket is made of UV-stabilised high-density polyethylene. Two fibreglass-reinforced strength members are embedded in the jacket to provide resistance to tensile loads.

The cable’s all-dielectric construction eliminates any electromagnetic effects on the cable, removing the need to address grounding and electrical safety issues during installation and operation.

The cable is fitted with optical fibre compliant with ITU-T G.652.D requirements. Its characteristics can be found here .
