Description

Application:

For installation in indoor risers and ducts, in attics, basements, in trunking and conduit. Cables with intermediate sheath access capability (built on the “Breakout” cable principle) are specifically designed for use in FTTH networks and optimised for inter-floor vertical routing in multi-dwelling buildings or office centres.

Construction:

The cable contains from 16 to 96 optical fibres arranged in protective micromodule tubes of 4 fibres each. The micromodules are laid loosely in the central part of the cable. Peripheral strength members — fibreglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) rods — are embedded in the outer jacket on both sides. The outer jacket is made of white halogen-free low-smoke compound (LSZH). Longitudinal marker lines are applied on both sides of the jacket surface, along which the jacket can be slit open.

MUxxx-SM-04 type cables are optimised for inter-floor vertical routing inside buildings. At branch points, the jacket can be opened along the marker line, and a group of fibres in a micromodule can be routed out to subscriber termination or distribution equipment. The fibres are protected from mechanical and other damage by the module tube. Where micromodules are routed over a sufficiently long distance through ducts, channels, or trunking, additional microtubes must be used to protect them from damage.

The optical cable is fitted with Fujikura FutureGuide — LWP optical fibre, compliant with ITU-T G.652.D requirements. At the customer’s request, the cable can be manufactured with ITU-T G.657.A1 fibres (single-mode fibre with reduced bend-loss attenuation). In this case, the “Flex” index is added to the marking.
