Description

Purpose:

For laying in internal ducts and risers of buildings, in attics, basements, in conduits and pipes. Cables with the possibility of intermediate sheath opening (following the “Breakout” cable principle) are specially designed for use in FTTH networks and optimised for inter-floor vertical laying in multi-apartment buildings or office centres.

Construction:

The cable has 4 to 24 optical fibres in a tight buffer coating, which are loosely located in the central part of the cable. Peripheral strength members — fibreglass rods (FRP) — are embedded in the outer sheath on both sides. The outer sheath is made of halogen-free low-smoke plastic (LSZH) of white colour. Longitudinal marker lines are applied on both sides of the sheath surface, along which the sheath can be cut.

Budget cables of type MTxxx-SM-02L Flex/Flex2 have a lightweight design and are optimised for inter-floor vertical laying inside buildings in confined spaces. At branching points on the cable, within the marker line area, the sheath can be opened, and individual fibres can be routed to end-user or distribution devices. When routed within a single object (cabinet, box, distribution panel), fibres in a tight buffer do not require additional protection. However, when routing fibres to subscribers via pipes, ducts, or conduits, micro-tubes can be used to protect them from mechanical and other damage.

The cable standardly contains fibres that comply with ITU-T G.657.A1 Recommendation (single-mode fibre with reduced bending losses). The minimum bending radius of such a cable (“Flex”) is significantly smaller than usual – up to 15 mm.

Upon customer request, the cable can be manufactured with fibres according to ITU-T G.657.A2. In this case, the index “Flex2” is added to the marking.
